Privacy Policy

Papa is built with privacy at its core. Almost everything you put into the app stays on your device. We don't sell data, we don't track you across the internet, and we don't use analytics to follow your behaviour. This policy explains, in plain language, the very small amount of data that does leave your device and why.

The short version: your name, partner's name, baby's name, due date, and checklist progress are stored only on your iPhone. We never see them. The only information that leaves your device is your subscription transaction, which is handled by Apple and RevenueCat so we know whether you've paid.

Who runs Papa

Papa is an independent iOS app built by Cem Sakarya, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Any questions, you can email hello@papa.cafe.

What stays on your device

All of the following is saved locally on your iPhone and never transmitted anywhere:

Your name, your partner's name, and your baby's name (optional, you can leave them blank)
The baby's due date
The language and country you selected
Your checklist progress (which items you've marked done)
Translated content cache (see below)

If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. You can also clear it at any time from the app's Settings screen under "Clear all data."

What leaves your device

Subscription data (via Apple and RevenueCat)

If you subscribe to Papa Pro, Apple handles the transaction via the App Store. We use a service called RevenueCat to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat receives:

An anonymous device identifier
The product you purchased (monthly or annual)
Whether your subscription is active, expired, or in a trial period

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or any of your profile data. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Translation models (via Google ML Kit, on-device)

When you pick a language other than English, Papa downloads a translation model from Google ML Kit. This is a one-time download — after that, all translation happens on your device with no data sent to Google. Google receives only the model download request, which does not include your profile data.

What we don't collect

No analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude — none)
No advertising identifiers or ad networks
No crash reporting beyond Apple's standard iOS crash reports (which you control in iOS Settings)
No location data, contacts, photos, or any other device permissions

Children's privacy

Papa is designed for adult users (expecting and new fathers). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any data we hold about you. Because almost all of your data stays on your device, the easiest way to exercise these rights is from within the app itself:

Access / correct: edit your profile in Settings
Delete everything: Settings → Clear all data
Subscription data: managed through your Apple ID settings and RevenueCat

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, we'll notify you inside the app the next time you open it.
